February Fitness - P90X

I did a few cycles of P90X back in 2004-2006. I took a break from the program to pursue other workouts, but I kept going back for Yoga X and Ab Ripper X. Finally, at the beginning of 2010 after recovering from a calf pull during marathon training for the Marine Corp Marathon back in October 2009, I started the program again.

I lost quite a bit of upper body strength from all the running. However, I just started on week 5 of the program. I am beginning to seem some results. This program is outstanding, difficult, and regimented all at once - and like any workout the hardest part is the diet. Damn you beer and wings!

The Buccaneer Scholar

Here is another book for this month of February non-fiction. This book stresses the importance of self education. The author is an exceptionally skilled individual who leveraged his skills into a sucessful business person without an eduction. Most people could probably not pull off what he did with his career. However, the material is a good reminder to never stop learning, continual self improvement - keep reinventing yourself. Plus I just love anything with a pirate analogy.....

The Four Hour Work Week

I am taking a break from fiction to revisit this book. I find the material a good reminder or the value of freedom in the 21st century. I love the concept of the new rich and the paradigm shift on the real value of wealth.

Peter & Max: A Fables Novel

I just finished this on a bender over Sunday night when I couldn't sleep. The story was a very satisfying adventure in the Fables realm. After 80 plus comics and 1 graphic novel, Bill Willingham still keeps take on classic story book character fresh and exciting. Plus, a bonus Fables comics is at the back of the story which fits right in around the War against the Adversary in the comics continuity.

Too Much Social Networking

My God it took a half an hour to get into my account and update everything. I'm hoping to start leveraging this outlet more as FACEBOOK is too much social for me sometimes for any real discussion.

Hard Case Crimes Book Imprint

This company is great source of classic pulp fiction crime noir. I have read three books so far, Shooting Star/Spiderweb and the Colorado Kid - all nice compact bites of mystery.

Still Alive

Being a regular blogger is not an easy task. This project must become a lifestyle change and habit to be effective. Hopefully I'll be back soon.

POL215 - Amad From Eqypt Says....

The first time he voted he received a speeding ticket on the way to the polls because he was so excited.

He loves our political system because the people have a say.

We Americans take life for granted!

I Think of Dean Moriarty.....

This is my second trip on the road. Age and experience made this trip much more wonderful than the first time around. I felt the sense of searching deep in my bones. I cannot even begin to describe the amazing use of language, but to use Kerouac's style and phrasings: his words blew blew blew from his horn like magic, sweat poring down in a Benzedrine rush, he was mad, mad with a sweet maniacal laugh, the mood just burned burned burned......

Politics are in the Air.....

OK, so I'm taking State and Local Political Processes at University of Phoenix right now. Perfect timing with the upcoming November elections. The class definitely put me in the right frame of mind, even if I am a bit jaded by the state of the world. Gotta exercise that right to vote - especially in a Presidential year. So in the spirit of good political intrigue, I'm plugging through a little Gonzo journalism:

Still Playing Catch UP....Another Read...and Far From Last

OK, So I haven't really been blogging. I'm gonna try and remedy that starting today (already second post, I'm on a roll). So this book had some fun interplay between the Villains, Heroes, and the mess of idiosyncrasies and quirks they carry. The book is especially fun for long time comic readers who can appreciate the jabs at all the old favorites.

300 - Graphic Novel Art

This image was the original picture that drew me to 300 when the story was first released by Dark Horse Comics.
